>>39328342Unlike Pokémon, Fire Emblem Fates Birthright/Conquest/Revelations were like 80% totally different but it still had a massive backlash and now Three Houses is a single game even though it very well could have been 3 separate games for each house.
Digimon Dusk/Dawn was the only Digimon game that did it and they haven't done it ever since because people didn't buy either.
Mega Man Battle Network games that had 2 versions sold really poorly as well.
Yo-Kai Watch went to shit after 2nd game because they did that and because the sales were so fucking poor in the West they made Yo-Kai Watch 3 a single game that had everything in the West.
Pretty much all other franchises that tried this got poor sales in the end, and rightfully so, because unlike Pokémon, there was no real incentive to do that. Pokémon had 2 separate versions from the beginning because trading added a social aspect to the games that encouraged kids to complete their Pokédex. That is kinda lost now since online trading with 0 social interaction can be achieved, but that was its origin nonetheless and that's why people are more accepting of it.
