Jesus why do people feel the need to defend a multi-billion dollar corporation.

They're trying to prove that GameFreak is an unnecessary part of the Pokemon Equation, or that TPC are better off developing the games, especially when the mobile games make infinitely higher profits than all of GameFreak's games combined.

I don't think it's that sinister. They just want as much money as possible, this means making the games as cheaply as possible, because the mainline games are basically money sinks compared to the merchandising; Pokemon has made five times as much from merchandise than it has from video games. The problem is the video games are what makes the IP that drives the merchandise. It's the Disney IP World problem. Disney makes far more money from their parks than they do their movies, but without the movies they have no IP to make attractions in their parks. The end result is a delicate balance where they maintain the value of IP over time and use it as attractions in the parks. The problem we're seeing here is TPCi just sees the big money from the mobile games and merchandise and is wondering why they have to spend tens of millions developing a game every few years when it's "an inefficient use of money."
