You cannot defend this garbage. I regret buying them. BW2 were the last great games. The franchise is going downhill game after game, and SwSh don't look really promising.If they suck, I'm done FOREVER with this shitty franchise.

Youre right. I said it 6 years ago when everyone loved them. Said to never expect anything from gamefreak after ORAS they are bad as well. Pirated sun and moon and moon slogged through it and hated it aside from team skull and the call back to the jungle series of trading cards. Pirated ultra sun and moon and couldnt even bother to finish it still waiting on a mod that fixed everything but think its impossible for the time being cause i want all the cutsceen shit axed i appreciate the difficulty hacks though theyre in the right direction but up ping difficulty isnt enough for these games. Nows the time to complain though so while people are flinging shit at masuda and gamefreak i can gladly shit in my own hand and toss some as well even if it wont do anything and those living slime absorb it like a muk it makes me happy that people finally say the 3ds games are bad and are saying this games bad. I know i wont be buying it unless theres a big suprise and the national dex and a decent post game are there without a billion cutscenes in the way. I think nintendo published pokemon isnt for me anymore i gave up years ago and only got madder each year seeing these trash games receive praise. I find the same enjoyment i did from classic titles now in projects made by fans for fans. People with such pokemon autism that they do it for free. From the rom hacks, the original pc rpg maker games, or the more client side assest purposing tools like pokemmo there is so much great pokemon that is not on the newest nintendo platform. Like masuda said its on my phone not a nintendo console and their meager lackluster mobile apps cannot provide the same level of enjoyment as these passion projects.

I would never defend XY. The only reason I bought Y was pokémon amie. I finally got to play, pet and feed my favorite pokémons. Nowadays I just play gen 3 hacks.

It pretty much normalized the chosen one that catches legends trope and the franchise stagnated from them.

It wasn't our journey but a hero's journey that we had to follow, fuck box legends and them being shoehorned in for the main plot.

Sword and Shield were always the last chance for me. It's a new generation on home console so you'd think it would be great, but... it looks just as shit if not more so. This franchise will never return to how it once was and rely on increasingly stupid gimmicks while beloved ones get cut.

Really that started with gen 2. Notice how gen 1 have the starters on the box where as how every other gen features a legend. In gen 2 this made sense. As they were made as the final the end and a pokemon like Hooh was always in the minds of fans of the anime so seeing it on the games cover was a big deal. Gen 2 didnt have the chosen hero shit though gen 3 started that. They had to raise the stakes and make something new they didnt even think pokemon would last this long at this point so they went for a literal stop the apocalypse scenario with pokemon that seemed more like gods than ever. Just compare groudon kyogre and rayquaza to the original bird trio for example. Groudon makes lava flow from cracks in the earth and pulses with weird symbols moltres shoots fire and has it on its wings articuno can shoot ice beams kyogre can freeze oceans and flood the land. The climax of gen 2 is what stopping team rockets return? Gen 3s is stopping the end of the world and had the weather effects to show this off tying the new hardware capabilities into the plot. Gen 4 then just goes we did earth ummm space! In the original DP platinum fixed alot of it and hgss optional events added to it making all of it submerge more into the world of pokemon. Then gen v comes around and turns the whole evil team concept on its head only to get lazy at the end and make ghetis a manipulator and N a dumbass and YOURE THE CHOSEN HERO TO FIGHT ME! Its nice in bw2 that there are all the former grunts though who share their perspective. Then we get to team flare the most boring team ever in a pokemon game seriously who wants to be a team flare member? You always see people wanting to be a rocket or in team aqua but never team flare in the autistic self insert pokemon shit.

Gen 2 was only supposed to have ho-oh at first too. It's like a big myth within the region. I miss when legendaries were just that. And mythicals went from having in-game areas and battles to being delivered to you by a postman because of the competitive scene and legality.

Gen4 ran with it and did the exact same gen3 did, from then on it wasn't a one of thing but a design decision.

You are a chosen one, you fight an evil team obsessed with INSERT BOX LEGEND NAME beat them before the 7th/8th gym and destroy the league with INSERT BOX LEGEND NAME HERE.

It stagnated beyond belief, Gen3 started it but Gen4 made it a staple, and it jumped the shark with deities and shit like no other to boot.

Gen5 gave us Ghetsis saying that a Pokémon of legend is still just a Pokémon, that's the sole reason I forgive him, he is an asshat but a baller asshat coming from games were Arceus is treated as a creator in HGSS.

That's the whole reason I like Ghetsis, Pokémon are just useful to him and not anything worth of awe, his whole plan was getting enough people to release their Pokémon so no one could fight back, heck he had the boxes about to be hacked so no one could use them and he and those loyal to him where the only ones with Pokémon and thus power over those that didn't have them.

He ran with his theme even if the reveal was tacky, speaking with the NPCs in N castle really make you weary of Ghetsis and how far ahead he planned this stunt.
