Most of the fanbase has mellowed out at this point since they know what being a Sonic fan entails. They get looked at and mocked by other fanbases because of it's autistic past, but they don't get mad, they just silently accept the past. But they also don't wallow in it and keep trying to move on from what their fanbase formally was.
Pokemon is secretly one of the most autistic fandoms ever conceived. They're just really good at hiding their powerlevels, but you get shit like edgy fangames that are cheered and loved and even edgy OCs that are cheered and loved. Hell, even orchestral remixes are cheered and loved despite being over-done to make something sound much more epic than it actually is, and those remixes usually add on things to ruin what made the original so good (It's why I kinda just like genuine remastered music instead).
