Used to be a full on GF drone and defend the games nonstop, used to get personally offended when anyone would badmouth Gamefreak, then USUM came out and I realized how fucking lazy that company is, haven't bought a game since Sun and am perfectly content skipping Sword and Shit. Been playing tons of other good games too.

How about you anons? When did you realize that GF was shit? If anyone else is struggling with a Pokemon addiction feel free to vent in this thread too.

ORAS was when I was starting to suspect something was up since I personally loved the Battle Frontier even though I had no idea what I was doing, I ran a Mist Ball Latias, a DynamicPunch Sudowoodo and a Dragonbreath Flygon, I really didn't know what was going on. I only managed to beat Tucker and it was still a huge feat for kid me.

I defended SM but not ORAS.

It was at this moment that I realised Game Freak were actively laughing at their fans and refuse to make a 2014 game better than the 2004 version of the same game.
After this, I never bought another Pokémon game, and never will again.
I pirated Moon and Ultra Moon, and have no intention of playing LegPiss or SwordShill.

Oh absolutely. I never used the argument myself, but the whole idea that "it's pokemon, it'll be fine" was too ingrained in my mind, I picked up on the decline and passed up on the first installations of gen 5, but got black 2 late into its life. I never wanted to acknowledge how far it was falling with gen 7, but Let's go went and left me disappointed, and sword and shield couldn't possibly introduce anything at this point to make me want these entries now.
When we get a game that looks good, isn't just rehashing animations from the 3ds, has a better battle facility/frontier focused postgame and may or may not anational Dex; but at least lets you import every pokemon, they'd get me back. With everything we know, I fully accept it's too late to save 8.

UlSUM, I was aware, but I held on to a little hope that the games would be fixed, so I put up with XY, ORAS, and SM, and deluded myself that the games would get better, USUM were just a lie, if it had little changes I wouldn't buy, but I saw of the trailers and hearing it would be an alternate take was promising, it gave me B2W2 vibes, then it came out, I have never been so disappointed, Ultra Changes my ass.
LGPE were the first Pokemon games I didn't buy, and it won't be the last.
I said if gen 8 wasn't at least an 8/10 I wouldn't buy it, what we got is 3/10 at best.

At least HAL saw the issue with their game and tried to improve it, all with free DLC, We'll be lucky if we got every Pokemon in as paid DLC.
Hell, even Sega kept Super Sonic free after the outcry, honestly GF/TPC are worse then Sega, at least Sega got Mania, and it's fans actually made a difference, can't wait for Pokemon to crash and burn to the point it's just a laughing stock.

At this point I wish Gamefreak would just let the fans make games. Pull a Sonic Mania with Pokemon and they will be outdone easily. Gamefreak can continue making casual shit games and the fans can make a more serious game with more difficulty. Sonic Mania is intended for those old school fans so why not do the same for Pokemon?

Same exact story for me, hard core breeding balltism and high rank on shoddy battle/pokemon showdown for as long as I can remember, an hour after starting USUM I lost all faith in gamefreak.

Sw/Sh just seemed predictably bad at that point.
