What if people found out the lite does have a TV mode when you dock it in a portable dock that you can make yourself with the case Amazon sells and then Nintendo finds out that people know and quickly make a lite only dock?

Why hack it to get it? You think Nintendo is gonna go the extra mile to remove the code for that? The only reason why it has no TV mode is because it wouldn't quite fit into the dock, but if you had a dock it fits in, I bet it will go into TV mode. Unlike the 2DS, I don't think they would change much on the software side.

Yeah, that's regrettable, but at the same time it means even more (most likely cheaper due to handheld focus) games coming to the system, so at least there's that.
I don't think this version is worth the price, though. Losing all of Switch's core features should cut the price by nearly half.
