>The Pokemon designs are fineI don't hate them as much as I hated most of gen 7's designs, I'll give it that, but again, none have really stood out as particularly unique or interesting. Also the box legendaries look like complete garbage.
>Wild Area has promiseI agree with that too, but it looks so fucking empty and barely any effort went into putting the pokemon into it in a way that feels natural, they just sorta pop into existence when you get close. I know this isn't an entirely fair comparison, but compare it to Breath of the Wild where you can see enemies camping out in the distance. Obviously I don't expect the same level of quality (not that I even think BotW is good), but having NPCs remain throughout the area whether you're there or not rather than spawning when you're in proximity feels like a key feature to an "open world".
