There's more past Pokemon other than Ninetales. Handwaving the fact it's clearly the same ninetales, other Pokemon you recruit make mention of past player Pokemon, of which were humans, such as grovyles partner.

Despite that, the fact other Pokemon can be recruited, and those Pokemon are from said past games that make mention of past events, it means those events happened, which in turns means those games happened and everything in said game.

You're right, humans don't exist now in pmd, I'm not gonna debate that, the last natural human was the future human from explorers. nobody knows said protagonists were humans minus a select handful, and you can recruit said handful in spmd, of which some mention that protagonist. At no point was the fact the protagonists were humans made widespread, in fact it was actually kept secret in some cases by those who did know, of course mawile wouldn't know if a small handful decided to keep it secret, mawile would only know those humans existed if it was widespread.
Ninetales is trustworthy, ninetales doesn't exactly lie unless there's a good reason, she's hardass but not evil or malicious.
