I thought it was pretty good but I only like catching pokemon and shiny hunting so I don't care about online or the story. I would have been more than happy to get a gen8 game that looks like it but with actual battles though.

It was pretty bad on any mode that wasn't handheld.
The game basically forced you to play in handheld if you didn't like swinging your arm like a retard all the time.
The game was pretty easy otherwise. The master trainers were hard if you didn't know jack shit about competitive play or just go for the usual cheating toxic option, so that was nice, I guess.

You don't need to use other Pokemon in LGPE. If you need to grind, you can go to the candy area where the safari zone used to be and pay to increase your stats directly.

LGPE brings some really neat stuff to the table, but at the same time suffers from severe lack of content. If they had added NatDex or at the very least an actual postgame, it could've been a very solid KANTOOOOOOOO experience.
S/S, on the other hand, is an absolute irredeemable mess that has no idea what the fuck it's doing or what it wants to be.

A true sequel to red and blue and also gold and silver, im not saying they have to put 2 regions on it, just the mountain that connects them

If it was a true sequel it could have had grown up red, gladion or lilie grown up gold, new locations and a lot of fun stuff while still appealing to nostalgiafags

The only thing I liked about LGP was the partner Pokemon. The partner was everything I ever wanted in a Pikachu and more and it was fun bonding with him.
Wish he was transferable, but I don't expect it.

The rest of the game sucked though.

I thoroughly enjoyed the quality of life improvements the game had. The stylization was cute, and I liked how you could choose which pokemon to walk into, or avoid spawns altogether.
I don't really understand all the negativity for it. I'm playing through Y again, as well as Ultra moon, and catch myself wishing it was more like LGP during certain moments.

That being said, I put the game down the instant I caught mewtwo and haven't touched it since.

If it had to be unoriginal, it could have at least been challenging. If it had to be casual babymode, it could have at least tried something new.

Eat shit. Those opening pictures for when you entered the forests and caves were charming, and I feel like this might be an unpopular opinion but I loved the Sevii Islands. The only fuck-up was putting most of them at the end game.

Yes, for what it can offer it costs too much. You can play better games at the same costs or lower. The game itself is easy, catching pokémon gives you too many exp, the trainers are underleveled with a bad AI, the animations suck, everything looks so fake and artificial (but maybe this is justified if we consider what one npc says to us), the postgame is also useless and pure grind.

It showed that a commercially successful pokemon game doesn't NEED anything that isn't from gen 1.

Because of this, the franchise has taken a different turn, one that is most likely the reason behind the culling in gen 8.

Yes.
It's a remake of RGBY in 2018 that's objectively worse in every way (except having Gym Leader rematches) than a 2004 remake of the same game.

It also started the cancerous trend of REMOVING POKÉMON FROM THE GAME'S CODE.
Even gen 3 didn't do this.
I was expecting SS to be XY 3 (SM was basically XY 2). What I mean is "standard formula game with little postgame, but at least has Megas and all Pokémon".
Instead, SS is LGPE 2 ("Cut the series' defining feature, be as dumb and spiteful as possible, nothing is sacred!").

For what it is? No.
If you want a silly side game it's perfectly acceptable. But when you try to call it a main line game it shits the bed.

Taking it as a stand alone game and ignoring the others. It's a fine time waster and fun if you like pokemon go.
Still not worth full price. since it's still just the size of a gameboy game.

If you take it as a main line game, it's fucking terrible and details leaking into other games is bad, especially since it's not the good ones.
Overworld pokemon should exist, but they should be few and far between.
Throwing the pokeball with the joycon was fun, and I think that adding an option to do that for increased capture rate would be great.
Everything else was fucking terrible.

This. don't bother with the stupid stat candies and catch all of 6 pokemon you actually want to use (as well as not battling ever trainer) and it's almost as hard as actual gen 1. The removed OP moves also helps in this regard (less high damage stab moves learned at low level)
