This seems like a blatant lie. From what we've seen the models are 1-1. Zero change in dimension, animation, and even textures in most cases (They probably made high-res textures back in gen 6 then downscaled them. The only one with noticeable changes is minccino which has different eyes.)

I can't think of any explanation as to why all of the models would be the exact same. If you remake a model from scratch there are going to be differences, and you'd have to redo some animations as a result. Plus, models are easily switched to different formats.

what I get out of this is not that shit got corrupted and they had to do everything from scratch, but rather something fucked up in the porting process that caused the animations to break, and they had to go back either rebone the models or rerig the animations.

things fucking up and the Pokemon Skeleton Crew (which is at best roughly a fourth of what XY had. likely less than that) has to spend time they simply don't have fixing this shit so the game can ship, however poorly.

The only way this can become even more of a tire fire than it is now, is if the games when out have game breaking (or even permanent system bricking) bugs or glitches ensuring the entire thing implodes on its face. model and animation data isn't created in-engine, it's copied to and/or referenced by the engine. Those files would exist in their own area somewhere on the GF server.

Not having read any of this (tl;dr) if it's a case of importing problems, how the fuck can that even happen? The importer can work for a 3ds-capable engine but they couldn't find a working one for SS? Or the default example from nintendo doesn't support more than 1 animation clip?

Did they lose their tools / pipeline programmers to Town or by ritual sudoku? (plausible)

LGEP ran in a 3DS engine modified to run on Switch (it's where the "Stars" rumours first started). Doubt they had any trouble with any of the models because of that. Writing a new engine for a new system however would lead to issues like that.

The models are the same. The animations are the same. The textures even seem to be nearly the same (Maybe the original textures assets were higher res, and scaled down the 3DS games?).
At worst they just had to re-rig all the models. Which you would only have to do once for each model.

But if they did have to re-rig all the models then I definitely oculd see that taking a long time. proper rigging can be hell. Weight painting on some pokemon would certainly be a bitch to deal with.
Certainly not "we gotta cut Pokemon" levels of work, but it is substantial work.

Overall, this is mostly just more BS excuses so far. At least now they're admitting at least to part of it being laziness with the "balancing 1000 pokemon is too hard" thing.

That's talking about the data. All that data being still in and ported over makes sense if you consider LGPE was basically them making S/S then splitting off and cutting down to focus on Kanto for the spinoff. So they already ported the data just fine, then just limited what you could access for the game to be just Kanto.

I'm asking if there's someone that has looked at the model files from Sun/Moon and the model files from LGPE and checked to see if there's any differences or signs that they were remade.
Like, the way it could have gone was:
>Port the shit over
>Something goes wrong with the models (unlikely) or the rigs (still unlikely, but slightly less)
>They focus on remaking the broken shit for the Kanto mon first and turn that into LGPE
>Then they move onto the Pokemon to be in S/S
That's the only way their excuse could be not 100% BS. The easiest way to disprove that would be if we could confirm nothing changed between the Sun/Moon 3D files and the LGPE 3D files.

Like if they don't care about the game anymore just fucking sell it to some other studio.

Seeing how much focus they are putting on designs I'm just starting to think that they just got forced to make the new gen with the new characters and pokemon to make the merchandise and new Pokemon TCG sets.

So here is a question, do we need a mainline game to reveal new pokemon? With the TCG, the anime, Go and now Masters I think it would have even more reach.

Slowly add the new gen pokemon while working on a new polished game for that gen, sounds more appealing.

you'd have to ask the people who dumped the games and opened the models in editing software, then. a few screenshots and shit I've seen show the partner pikachu and eevee slightly updated, but every other pikachu or eevee in the game being the same as xy. they just had the triangles showing and the lines were all the same with the same numbers in the corner displaying data side by side. I'll look for a bit, but I don't expect to find much, people try to bury that kind of shit.

I would be inclined to believe they didnt just scale the models up and added the clouds as a stage element but created a second model for the maxed mon

its possible some models might need adjusting at max sizes (there may have been clipping thats not visible on the 3DS that would be maxed on switch) but that doesnt constitute "creating" a new model for it

Every time someone says this I'm filled with so much hate.
The clouds appeared with Steelix cause they were INSTANTIATED AS CHILDREN OF IT'S MODEL. That is exactly how something like that works. There's no bad practice here.

The steelix thing has NOTHING to do with loading a seperate model, cause it's not loading anything in that scene. It's a fucking culling error. They have a shitty script for turning the visibility of characters on and off for cutscenes.
We see the same fucking shit happen in this webm. It only lasted for a few frames in this case, but the point is they're clearly deriving from the same bug:
>Cutscene happens (for Steelix it's Arcanine Dynamaxing, for this it was Nessa giving a speech)
>Turns off visibility on all characters not in the cutscene so nothing gets in the way of the camera
>Black screen transition happens
>Script supposed to turn everyone back on
>Both cases it fucks up and misses the timing on turning them on
Steelix seemed to be totally missed by the script though, and only turned on once the camera finished one pan and some backup check occured and went "Oh, this is still off, turn it on." That's why it comes back after the camera finishes it's panning motion, not because it's loading anything.

There's so much actually wrong with this game. Can you PLEASE STOP USING THIS FAKE SHIT BASED ON NOT UNDERSTANDING HOW GAMES WORK.

In both game and movie production assets are initially made at a much higher fidelity than their intended use. The entire point of the Pokemon 3D models was to future proof them, it would be completely retarded to assume the textures are new.

Another thing is that it was Creatures that made the models and I assume the rigs as well so this should not have affected GameFreak's work flow at all either.

You are correct in saying these are BS excuses, it's also not just BS but total lies.

Probably a load of BS, not only are all the models and animations clearly recycled from previous installments but even if they did have to start from scratch all the kanto pokemon along with their megas and alolan forms were already done on the switch and if it was true they could keep making the new models and code them in later as DLC. They probably just made that up to try and save face with the fans.
Real reason they want to delete the national dex is so they can focus more attention on shillmons and reuse design aspects of older mons instead of creating new interesting ones.
