According to them, as ORAS was a remake they wanted a method to make it more exciting to find pokemon so people wouldn't get bored of running into the same old pokemon yet again
When SM came around you had a whole selection of new pokemon so they didn't deem necessary to renew dexnav

Yeah, I remember when Mega Evolution was announced most people hated it. Now people are pretending that a fucking button press that turns your Pokemon into horribly balanced ugly form changes is somehow one of the best features introduced to this series.

GameFreak gets rid of features because:
a) they can sell mutliple games
b) they're afraid an old mechanic is too smart for dumb kids, OR, old mechanic can't be redeveloped by them.

Some issues with a) are that they don't get money from used games or games taken off the shelves/sold out ones. So they remake the game or bring back the mechanic.
