Not objectively the peak, but objectively the last good ones. I'd agree that they're the peak, but I could see arguments made for Emerald and the GB Era. No one in good faith could make a worthwhile argument for the 3DS trash.

That era did so much right - focus on newer mons and regions; decent post-game content; gorgeous sprites and music; compelling stories (by Pokemon's standards). However, they were also notably more linear than that games which came before them; flooded the roster with legendaries and had some utterly garbage Pokemon designs. I guess what I'm saying is they probably WERE the peak era, but they spearheaded a lot of the worst shit which plagues the modern games.

I would place BW2 above the originals and switch up HGSS with D&P but keeping Platinum in its same spot but still i agree, The Gen 2 remakes, Gen 4 and Gen 5 are objectively the best Pokémon games ever made.
I hope we get to see ACTUAL HD remakes of those someday
