Well gen 1 would have never happened if nintendo didn't step in and help with the development. PLus I think their elephant game's launcher was just broken from the get go.

Then there's a thread here that postulates that they lost all their assets moving from the 3ds to the switch.
Instead of trying to spruce up the animation and models they tried to recreate the 3ds ones instead of trying to improve them.

Nothing in a standard game since recycled animations is commonplace, but considering they still haven’t given a good reason for a missing National Dex, it’s just infuriating.

the thread saying that is purposeful misinformation. the cited interviews say nothing about lost assets or remaking anything. the redditor in question who wrote the original post that the image you speak of has repurposed is just stuff they made up.

You're right about there being nothing about asset loss, however they do still say that (some) models needed to be redone (whatever that means).

I doubt it. Assuming his statement isn't complete bullshit as usual, I'd be really curious what difficulties he is referring to. Pokemon models and data were just straight up ported from previous entries in SM, and obviously that wasn't an isolated occurance.
