What's even the point of the Elite 4? There are tons of gym leaders, champions, and rivals that people love and remember but every single E4 is a literal who that nobody cares for.

The E4 being unknown is nice since it gives the final challenge of the main game some mystery and excitement to look forward to. Honestly, Alola's E4 loses a lot of the tension since most of it is comprised of characters you've already beaten and you already know how to counter most of their team already.

I think sinnoh and kalos are the only regions with forgettable e4 with the exception of Drasna. Every other region has a good line up.

I'd argue Sinnoh's E4 was pretty damn close to forgettable, but then people love to lose their shit over the Diamond/Pearl teams, so even they have something they're remembered for
