I can't deny that the pokemon attacks are better animated, but the gameplay looks garbage compared to S/S and the city is really messy.

Also, while GF is still a bunch of lazy fucks that should go back and update the old Pokmeon animations, I will point out that this game probably actually only has like 100 or so Pokemon in it with each of them having only 2-3 animations each so they had all sorts of room to polish in this case compared to the mainline games which have to deal with 10 or so animaitons per pokemon and upwards of 300-400 pokemon.

I legitimately enjoy the casual grinding and exploration Pokemon provides. I see it on kinda the same level as Kirby. What Kirby is to chill platforming, Pokemon is to chill role-playing gameplay.

Assuming that they're stolen assets only makes it worse for GF. I mean, that's clearly just PR bullshit. The reason they cut them was cause they're lazy and got tired of trying to carry them over every game and most likely have some shady plans for boosting sales with this choice.

That doesn't change the facts about this actual topic at hand:

Pacing, you can't have a regular Pokémon game with routes and and all with say the animations of say Pokémon Stadium. Every battle would take a very long time. That would be ontop of wild encounters and exploring routes and towns.

People point out double kick's animation for being a hop but to be honest it probably shouldn't actually be much longer than what it is. If they made it so a Pokémon would raise a leg(if they have one) that'd probably be the most suitable animation in terms of gameplay pacing.

You're saying that programmers or world editors do the animations too. It doesn't work in this way in the videogame industry. So rather than saving "devtime" they're saving moneys.

What are the chances that a few people who are the ones making animations also focus in some other aspect of the game like music composition, story writing or whatever?
If GF really had a group of dedicated animators I can't understand why don't they just pay them a chunk of money to make proper good looking animations. I mean, GF has billions upon billions of dollars, don't they?
It wouldn't be a loss, specially when SwSh will probably sell like hotcakes, like the mainline games usually do.

I can't believe something like this can happen in a studio like game-freak, especially when the models are made from creatures.inc, so they probably made the animations too.

It's something that can happen in an indie studio because they are maybe 3 person working on it.

For reference, this mobile game just has characters copy and pasted. There is no story, proper battles with a meaning or anything of the like. Just a few maps, a few pokémon (both clearly snatched from the 3DS games for the most part) and a few battle stages.

It doesn't feel like a true pokémon game.
The battle animations are the only worthwhile aspect of it.
