There aren't many people in the overworld at all
Only trainers in routes. I hope this is fixed once the game is released because towns look super empty.

The only time you see non trainers are in cutscenes. There's still four months to release. Maybe the framerate is affected b too many npcs in the towns so they cut them out for the presentation/demos

Not showing the NPCs until more stuff is revealed. They did this with earlier trailers; there's more people in the big factory city compared to the initial reveal of it.

Probably because there are so many more overworld Pokemon now like Gossifleur and Wooloo; they're trying to hide new designs until they're revealed on schedule.
