The better internals (lower voltage DRAM, "Mariko" SoC) are used to lower the power usage of the console so that they can ship lower capacity batteries, and to (hopefully for them) patch any possible exploit, but not for much else unfortunately
But at least the battery life is actually better, thanks to the slightly smaller screen and low voltage DRAM
