Mightyena line is actually a striped hyena mixed with a few dog traits, like shibas. It's post noticeable with Poochyena's face pattern and Mightyena still having pointed ears.
Their shiny palette references spotted hyenas, though it could just be a coincidence.

Absolutely. I know Turner didn't make Lilligant but he joined the design team for gen 5, so it wouldn't surprise me if he, subconsciously or not, copied the idea from back then.

Which is funny because gen 5 is supposed to be copies of gen 1.

Anyways, Rolycoly gets a pass because it is looking to become something different outside of being another Geodude clone.
Corviknight is cool too.
Dreadnaw could have been better. More alligator snapping turtle-like with the tongue lure.
Yamper is different enough.
Mareep line is technically our only sheep-like Pokemon, so Wooloo is fine too. For now. I suspect it becoming some kind of bagpipe sheep instead of anything really cool like a reverse "sheep in wolf's clothing".

But we don't need more cutesy waifu grass mons. Impidimp wouldn't irk me if its anatomy didn't look so childish.
