I was too cynical, so the direct didn't convince me. I hated dynamax and knew they would find other ways to ruin the game. I just didn't think that would be deleting Pokemon. What a bad timeline.

Did you honestly expect something good when they kept saying since the beginning that it's hard to make and to not get expectations too high? The fact that LGPE even exists should have given you an idea of what to expect.

Me too, I was hoping for a Switch-Mario/Zelda/Smash hype season for Pokemon because of the home console jump and the fact that GF had called this a game for core fans. I was expecting to get the "woooaaahh, I can't believe they're really doing that" feeling that Odyssey or BoW generated before launch. Instead I was like "oh, it's the new Pokemon game. That's cool I guess". I had the exact same sentiment ever since with every trailer.

And then they announced the culling. Fuck my life

They didn't. Ohmori said that there would be good story and wild area content to compensate for lack of Pokemon. In regards to the actual postgame all he had to say was "it's not just you beat the elite 4 and then that's it" it is all vague stuff and could mean anything, like a 3 hour episode and battle tower clone.

The moment I saw them talk about that, I knew we were headed for another disaster. Sure enough, I was proven right. The only time they would ever put effort into things again is when they start losing customers, either because they games have become so bad that most can't take it anymore or if another franchise goes into direct competition with them.
