Started with Sapphire but ditched it for Emerald as soon as it came out, had a few good years with the Gen 3 - Gen 4 games, both mainline and side games, then skipped every game until ORAS and Super Mystery Dungeon. Gen 6 was shit but SMD was pretty great. Got UM but still haven't played it, and I'm gonna skip this gen too.

B-Day gift from my Dad, Uncle and Grand Parents. Grandparents payed the money for the game boy SP while Uncle and Dad got some games for it.

Played the hell out of it. Me and my Dad would actually pass it off to one another and take turns getting new Pokemon or just getting past Gym Leaders. Or if I just asked him to help me out with it cause I had no idea what the hell I was doing. Good times

Hey man I was alive during the time and I grew up watching the original anime on TV. Parents just wouldn't buy me a Gameboy, I ended up buying a GBA with my own money years later to play Pokemon.

Platinum was my first and it's still one of my favorites.
I think Gen 5 is the peak of the franchise though.

The first games I played were Emerald/Crystal/Yellow.

I played all three at once, downloaded all three roms the same day and had simultaneous runs.

The first one I owned was Platinum, and to date is still my favorite, although B/W and B/W2 are close seconds.

Started with the anime, did not have a console until I was 17. My first game was Leaf Green on emulator, then Pearl on an actual cartridge, but it was used, and I don't remember whether I had started the game anew or just played the pre-existing save file. The first purely "mine" game was Pokemon Y.

My first game was SS. My friend let me borrow it for a bit in middle school & it conviced me to get it. It was also my first DS & first game ever. Still got the Pokewalker & use it to this day. Only ever got Pokemon White & Pokemon Black 2 since then.
