>>39376988Not a single MechaGodzilla quite literally mimics the opposing Godzilla design. In fact, the most recent design titled "Kiryu" used the original skeleton of 1954's Godzilla as a host, but it's mechanical design is very modernized and lean (which shares an interesting similarity to Genesect's lore)
The original '70s MechaGodzilla was constructed in a secret cave near the Okinawa mountains, and Duraludon's backstory suggest living in caves and mountainous areas. The translation for Kiryu is quite literally "Machine Dragon," and till this day they're still making vinyl toys of that character. For Duruludon, last I checked the typing was Steel/Dragon, an odd coincidence.
I question many of the common monster comparisons like Nidoking -> Baragon, or Hydreigon, and especially Feraligatr being linked to America's 1998 Godzilla film, but I find the coincidences way too stacked in Duruludon's favor for it to not clearly be inspired by, or used as a reference, from MechaGodzilla. The lore, habitat, typing, rivalry and inception for a game focusing on titan sized battles, during a time when Toho monster films are peaking, seems to suggest something, even if it's design isn't a direct clone of another previous Pokemon (Which I appreciate)
Now we wait for Yamper's inevitable Electric/Rock "shisa" evolution :)
