Calling GF lazy aside, is there even any good reason that the CAN'T patch the rest of the Pokemon in post-launch? Home won't even be available on launch as it is.

The missing Pokémon literally won't be in the code of the game, and from GF's point of view there's no point in going through the trouble of adding them later when the games will sell like hot cakes regardless on release day.

No, there's no good reason. They bullshitted by saying they had to redo the models for SS but then they could just add them in batches after the games releases, which they obviously won't do.

GameFreak has a severe phobia of patches. Even seeing a patch on a pair of jeans caused them to convulse on the ground, screaming and shitting themselves in terror. So having to make patches for a game is right out

GO and Masters will be the games that actually matter, at least from a business perspective.
"Core" games only exist to provide the real moneymakers new material to print money with, those moneymakers being the anime and merchandise.

See this is going to get really fucking stupid if there is pokemon exclusivity within the same generation. If Galar 2 or the sinnoh remakes come around and it has pokemon exclusive to it that swsh cannot get then it gets insane.

They are going to want to do patches/dlc that will lead to more sales, which adding more old mons probably won't do. If they do release more, it will almost certainly just be a smallish batch of fan favorites. If its not enough of a priority to have them all at launch, there's no way they will devote resources to put them all in later.
