I think that it is cool that I can train my Girafarig for taking hits or dealing burst damage. Invest in some Protein or Calcium to give your Pokemon the edge. I struggle to keep track of what EV's I get. It'd be nice if there was something there to tell me how my Pokemon is doing after defeating a Tentacruel, Floatzel, Gabite, or whatever. This is definitely a core game mechanic.
