GameFreak won't care, they've already gotten Timmy's Mommy's money.
And odds are Timmy won't encounter this situation anyway since his favorite Pokemon is bound to be Pikachu, Charizard, Eevee, Lucario or some other designated shillmon that GameFreak and The Pokemon Company want you to like and no one else especially considering they'll never get culled so that heartbreak will never happen.

Wow, that's ONE (1) less sale when they're still going to get at least 7 million from asset flipping an upper version, at least 10 million from a remake, and at least 15 million from a generational debut game.

Sword and shield are way better than those half assed cashgrabs. Also, they are releasing nintendo switch lite, which is cheaper than regular switch. The games are gonna sell very well.
