>>39403529My cents on some of these:
>FeraligatrLooks like a serrated saw creature to me. It's possible this was lost in translation. Very tenuous.
>SwampertIt's in the name: rampart. I always thought there was something of a defensive wall aspect to the creature, though it's subtle in a way that Blastoise's cannons aren't.
>EmpoleonEmpoleon is a medieval king covered in armour, hence his steel type. His flippers are edged with metal blades and he has a trident for a "mask". Strong example for the pattern.
>SamurottExplicitly a samurai and its shells are explicitly weapons. If it was upright like its prevo it would be even more obvious.
>GreninjaBecause Chesnaught is the warrior with overt weapons and armour of the group this one is weakened, but Grenny still throws shuriken around.
>PrimarinaPretty indefensible, Primarina balances a ball on its nose and that isn't a weapon no matter how you cut it.
Overall verdict: weak pattern, confirms well for three entrants (Blastoise, Empoleon and Samurott), modestly for two (Swampert and Greninja), neutral at best for one (Feraligatr) and outright antithetical to the last one (Primarina). Compared to the Grass pattern this is very patchy, and to the Fire one is outright absent given the strength and precedence of the obvious chinese zodiac set.
Now since the grass set is pretty weak also (how is a porcupine or owl ancient?), one can plausibly just say that the fire starters have a pattern and the others don't. That pattern far better fits the evidence than any others. Never be fooled by randomness.
