I rather liked it, but there is a problem with the non-linear design he didn't touch on: there is literally nothing stopping you from catching high level Pokemon and just destroying the region from there. Like, sure, high level Pokemon have the issue of not respecting the trainer, but as anyone who has actually played with them can tell you, that they still have a ton of HP and hit like a truck when they do attack. Plus you can always get Pokemon just under the badge limit anyway. Pokemon disobey me when they are level 30? Lets just get a level 27 Pokemon from the wild then.
