Excadrill is OU almost entirely for Mold Breaker SR and its abilities that let it sweep in sand.
Heatran's ability gives it a fire immunity, and it has the best trapping move in the game.
Kartana has a minmaxed as fuck stat spread and built in moxie but better
Magearna has Soul-Heart along with a diverse movepool, which is insane. Also a fairy type.
Magnezone has only ever existed in OU for its ability
Mawile needs hug power to function
Scizor would be far worse if it had a generic ability over technician
Skarmory doesn't really have a fantastic ability, but it's also niche as fuck
The only real exception is Celesteela, which can't really abuse Beast Boost and is carried by its stats and movepool, and Jirachi, which is carried by a fuck huge movepool (though it can still very much abuse Serene Grace if it wants to).
Besides that, anon, you kind of have to take things like abilities and moves into consideration when discussion how good a type is. Grass is a fantastic type, but it sure as hell isn't for the shitty matchups it has with most other types, including some very prominent offensive types.
