Like, let's say they race swapped Gandalf the Grey, and Morgan Freeman played him. That'd be kinda bullshit, because sure, Morgan's a great actor, but it's a role for a white, elderly man to play. That's how the character was envisioned.
This is just a mantle, though. People have been chimping out about it for months, as if the mantle comes with being white as a prerequisite. Like god damn, chill. Exploring a different kind of character filling the mold of a title is what keeps a role like that fresh, and I'm sure the next 007 after that will be white again.
