Should You Transfer Pokemon?

I've beaten Fire Red, Emerald, Soul Silver, Platinum, and Black/White 2. My question is, do people normally transfer their teams from old games to new ones? Should I? I feel like the old games will become obsolete without my strongest Pokemon.

Their teams? Not necessarily, but most people spend a lot of time catching tons of Pokemon, breeding Pokemon to have the right IVs, stats, and moves, not to mention if they happen to be a shiny hunter and thus have a collection of shiny Pokemon.

I only transfer clones with masterballs and rare candys from my emerald to my D/P HG/SS Games since I can make more.
