How come there isn’t more hate for these two? They look like Muppets and are wearing actual human clothing. Feels like it’s be better if there were a pre-evo for these.

for the longest time they were the only gen 5 pokemon i disliked.
I kind of like sawk now, i dont hate them or anything, but i think they look like a gen 3 duo that was made for the sake of double battles being the gimmick in gen 3 (like volbeat/illumise, plusle/minun, solrock/lunatone, etc)
plus their beta concept sounded cooler

Fun fact: Throh was a dedign meant for Sinnoh but got shelved until Unova came along. Then the designer wanted a rival for Throh and made Sawk.

Before we were able to see their personalities through Amie, I used to make my teams based on who I'd imagine I'd be bros with.

I heard somewhere they were supposed to be the, uh, Japanese guardian spirit guys, but they toned that down to avoid being too tied to real life stuff, I guess.

Using Sawk in game and having Throh every time is Random Battles made me genuinely line them a bit. Sawk is deceptively strong and has a decent 95 Speed and Throh can be ridiculously bulky in lower tiers. They're fun to use and the designs are ok, but nothing spectacular or hideous.
