>>39416474>more fun to explore and play throughExcept there was very little playing thanks to the cutscenes every three steps and no exploring because they couldn't be bothered to actually make something to explore.
Shitty items no one really cares about and Pokémon found elsewhere do not a reason to explore make.
Items can work but legends, hidden lore, hidden gameplay - those are real reasons to explore. And they have plenty of them to include if they'd just keep making use of them instead of dropping them.
Especially when the cutscenes are dragging you along by the hand.
They couldn't even just let you come across the Battle Royal, like they did with the trio or Volcorona in Gen 5 or Inverse battles in Gen 6. No, they had to force you to do it once for no good reason. To introduce a meme to Kukui's character which does nothing for him.
You understand before reaching the first center that he's a rough and tumble character without being expressly told he is. It's just pointless. A reason to force you into doing something that should be extra. That someone could've - and would've in a good game - just mentioned in passing.
In Gen 1 or 2 this likely would've rightly been something heavily implied by reading a poster or something. something people could find interesting and speculate about.
Imagine how threads about him would go when the meme about who the Masked Royal is appears if they hadn't outright told it instead of just being shut down by asshats who have to ruin the barely gleanable little bit of fun there is to be had about it. Obviously we all tend to me a little more autistic about the shit here but those could be decent threads if they'd just left something to the imagination like they used to and great games still do.
