Get 1 because Primeape is quick (fastest fighting type) enough and strong enough to do very well in-game. You can unhesitatingly throw out body slam, submission, rock slide and hyper beam to sweep.
In gen 2, primeape retains its spot as the fastest fighting type pokemon while also gaining a strong new move in cross chop. I reccomend it being a trade pokemon though, since rock slide is no longer a tm in gen 2.
Gen 7 in-game mankey learns cross chop at a shockingly low level and combined with focus energy netting you 100% crits you can reasonably sweep a lot of aslowla. And in the post game, Primeape is at his prime, learning its broadest moveset yet. You have the basic set of Close Combat, Gunk Shot, Stone Edge and U-Turn, but also a few mix ups like the Elemental Punches, Encore and the new move Throat Chop all working well with its hidden ability, Defiant.
