I wasn't asking about the animations, I was asking about the model. If you're saying that they're using the same models, then this size discrepancy existed before this game. True, it's still Gamefreak's fault, but it's a mistake they made ages ago and has nothing to do with this game specifically. Blame X/Y, not Sword and Shield.

It would make more sense to have them full scale in battle than it would in over world

full sized in overworld can lead to issues blocking players line of sight where it wouldnt matter as much in battle

Special moves have a specific size. That's why in battle the mons all look equally sized. I'd be ok with that if they hadnt put trainers behind the mons

It seems like they decided all pokemon will battle 20 feet away rom eachother regardless of size and so they go "hey, if we scaled them properly they would make the battlefield too small! Haha I don't really know how to fix this... we could make the battlefield bigger but that doesn't make sense haha so we'll make wailord the size of a smartcar"
