Thoughts on the Alola regional dex, now that we know the culling was originally supposed to happen in Gen 7?

The fact that they wanted to do the culling in Gen 7 should prove it's not an issue of models since we know for a fact they're the same models as XY and ORAS

old pokemon had less unique animations than new gen 7 pokemon in gen 7.
No one noticed, because it doesnt fucking matter to most people, but i think they really thought they were making gen 7 pokemon so much more unique by having 1 more animation

basically no legendaries from other generations was going to be a thing to begin with, wow
well at least Ditto is basically guaranteed to be in every regional dex ever thanks to breeding, which is the one thing gamefreak is making easier each gen

I'm no game developer and I won't make light of the work they do but how? Sure I can get it being a pain for gen 8 since they have to update all the textures for HD on top of making new Pokémon but all they were doing from XY>ORAS>SM>USM was copying and pasting over the old models to the new games. Am I missing something?

Breeding's more likely to vanish than Ditto is while they ensure the base/baby stages of all Pokemon can be found in the wild, and considering Gigantamax is thus far exclusive to Pokemon caught in Raid Battles, I wouldn't be surprised if they actually take this route just so they can make Breeding a selling point in Ultra Sword and Ultra Shield.

percentage wise its about the same.
I've seen people say galar is filled with unova mons but that's just because unova had the most pokemon technically

Not sure why that matters when there's no following Pokemon in Alola and the animations themselves were only used for a handful of pokemon when using that rotom camera thing

I don't really care about the lack of National Dex since nothing not in regional dexes gets new entries anyway, and only the Alola games recently have bothered to give any old mons new entries.

But at least you can trade the rest in. The Sword and Shield issue is that they didn't bother to program the rest in.

That wouldn’t be the final dex. Not even Gamefreak’s stupid enough to put in ride Pokémon but have you unable to use the exact same species in battle. At least I don’t think that they would be that stupid.
