Why are zoomers complaining that they will have to pay for NatDex? Gen I - III you had not only to pay but also to have friends for completing it.

Because not paying for having the basics was an upgrade and actually having to pay again is a massive downgrade since Wi-fi and Wireless came into Pokémon with the solely reason of making trading and battling better and more accesible

at least the entire business model back then was based on one-time purchases. the games were a one-time purchase and so was the link cable.
now, you have to pay an online subscription and a pokemon bank subscription in perpetuity on top of buying the games, which are now $60 instead of $30.

oh, and i almost forgot to mention this: the games are now on an annual release schedule too, so game freak expects people to spend $60-$120 + the subscription fees every year to stay current.
the entire business model of pokemon now is to drain as much money as possible out of your wallet every single year.

back in the day, game freak would actually delay games if they weren't ready for primetime yet, even if it meant skipping a year. it happened with diamond/pearl, it happened several times with gold/silver.
now, they rush out unfinished, unpolished shovelware for their annual cash grab and charge more than ever for it.

nowadays, gs would have been rushed out in an unfinished state because game freak only cares about the money anymore. the "postgame" would just be a sign that reads "The KANTOOOOO Project Has Started!"

I only did major non spinoff releases for a reason. It's what people talk about when they say "Pokemon needs to stop being a yearly release" as if it ever really hasn't been one.

Subscription kikery is far worse than some products that you have ownership of. Don't forget one day these services will shut down. The only way to transfer from previous gens then will be through PKHeX.

You can't transfer any Pokémon over from gen II that puts everyone on a level playing. With Pokémon Home you have to pay to keep shit you don't know when you'll be able to use.
