People say Smash makes Pokemon more popular like Incineroar.
Then why Ivysaur is still far less popular than Bulbasaur?

Because Ivysaur just is part of the Pokemon Trainer set, and isn't an independent character. Squirtle/Charizard are already popular so that doesn't effect them. The first and last evos are always popular, the middle ones tend to be forgotten (not counting "baby" Pokemon evos like Pichu)

Bullshit, I bet plenty of people still think C Falcon is a smash original character or something stupid like that. Nobody had heard of FE before smash. Earthbound was super niche before smash, and even fucking metroid was pretty niche before smash/prime

The Smash effect only really occurs to the wildcards or characters that aren't well known by the community. Stuff like Roy, G&W, R.O.B., Wii Fit, Shulk and Duck Hunt.
Ivysaur is both incredibly well known and not that quirky so it isn't nearly as endearing and you likely already have formed an opinion on it that won't be likely to change.

I don't remember a case where it worked period. Most of the time they put in a recent character it was one that had already been popular and from a successful game.
