Realistically, probably because the original game was designed without these Pokemon. Game Freak didn't want to have to rebalance shit so it was easier to just keep the games as similar to the original.

You’re able to access everything post-E4/post ruby/sapphire sidequest, FRLG was meant to be a purely updated Red/Green.
It’s a happy medium, since there’s still Round 2 and a few Sevii Islands to fight/explore with your newly evolved bros.
Why all the hate for FRLG lately? I only remember positive reception for it on release.

Strongly disagree, they fix the bugs and add a post-game, they don't add as much as HGSS, but at least they are better than the shitshow that is ORAS.

FireRed really should have had all Johto mons available before postgame. G/S/C even had Gen 2 mons that were only available IN Kanto like Houndour, Murkrow & Slugma.

This, I don't get it. At the time FRLG was a really damn good game with a solid postgame. Sure it was obnoxious not being able to use stuff like Crobat, but there was substantial enough stuff after the E4 that it wasn't like there wasn't opportunity to use them. Plus, the E4/Champ rematches were a first for the series, giving us a great place to have high-leveled battles against trainers.

I'm replaying the gen 3 games and its just a really nice experience. Its hard to believe how lame LGPE are in comparison.
