There is some hope for Gen 9, since SM looked quite a bit better than XY. Reusing the Pokemon Models isn't the problem, the main issue with those are their bland animations.

I completely agree that the animations are the main issue, but moving to a home console was the big chance to improve and even reimagine everything for the better. The rate of progression is just so fucking slow compared to any other series, at this rate it'll be decades before we see what Pokemon should be like today.

I have zero hopes for gen 9, not only is this Game Freak we're talking about but we are now going to get a second mobile game that is likely going to make more money than the main series games ever could.
The current trend is that the games will get lazier and lazier while Game Freak gets starved of budget and time, while TPC focuses on mobile more and more. Even GF knows this, this is exactly why they are putting so much into Town.
