Only half of them are hypocritical, judging by B2/W2, but was anyone really unable to understand that they were blowing smoke? Because I mean Ghetsis outright comes out and says he's blowing smoke. Multiple times, as I recall.

This is why regions after Sinnoh were designed in such a way that it would be impossible to get lost. Remember that people got lost in Sinnoh because they mashed through all the text, never bother to talk to any NPCs, and then get all buttblased with they don't know what to do.
Remember that people thought the Elite 4 was too hard, which is why every new battle gimmick is so stupidly overpowered and that Amie/Refresh Boosts are so potent with zero effort put into the players part.

This reminds of how ORAS teleports you from Petalburg to Mauville after beat Norman and straight-up hands you Surf. In the original games I believe Norman tells you to go next door and Wally's parents tell you where to go after giving you Surf.

The game entered dangerous territory by questioning the relations between them. Instead of taking the questions head on, they skirted the issue by suggesting Team Plasma and anyone who thinks like them is either naive or a horrible bastard. Who says it's their ONLY purpose? Villains can have more than one purpose, BUT depending on how you portray them, their main purpose is to be depised and defeated by the hero.

the players and protagonists should feel the way about the antagonists that their actions logically dictate, if a villain's primary reason for existing is simply to be an object of the player's hate, then that's lazy writing.
