like many of the first stage mons yeah, its evolution is going to be what makes it or breaks it, personally excited it from a competitive standpoint, Fairy/Dark is pretty interesting.

If you are bothered at the existence of an imp Pokemon with a Yokai Watch esque design, despite it being 50% more original and compelling than the majority of the Pokemon introduced so far, that's all on you. If you are a designfag who only judges a Pokemon's value based on how it looks to you, then you are ignoring the much more relevant aspects such as its competitive viability (Dark/Fairy is one of the best type combinations).

Not just typing but stats, moves, and abilities also play a role. Typing is just one aspect of a Pokemon's potential, and Dark/Fairy is one of the best in the game. And fortunately, the majority of Dark-types evolve really late, and so their evolutions have high BST. The only shitty Dark-types are those specifically made for early-game or ones with terrible type combinations.

One is actually an imp. Imps are defined as either devils or sprites, hence the Dark/Fairy typing.

Sableye is based on the Hopskinville gobiln, an alien-like mythological creature that people allegedly saw late at night (hence ghost-typing) as well as the theme of darkness (as it lives in caves).
