>>39451062I'm on the pro-fulldex side, but I can give an example as to why some people complain about complaining.
I'm really sorry for getting political, but it's the best example I have.
SJWs, people within the social justice community who have way too much passion in political correctness, love to complain about shit, including pointless and harmless shit. Naturally, this pisses off people who don't share their insanity, so they end up complaining about how insufferable and detrimental SJW mentality is. People complain about SJWs because they are capable of causing unfavorable changes if left unchecked. Most of them don't even support those who cave into them. It's where the alternative meaning of "get woke, go broke" comes from, in this case the cause is from being an annoying fool rather than making genuine sacrifices for a cause.
So what does this have to do with the National Dex controversy? Well, a lot of controversies on the internet, including non-cultural and non-political ones, end up degenerating into a shouting contest where there is a barren bridge between the opinion gap. A lot of people have gotten a bad first impression on "Dexit" and have decided to oppose it because they view it as pointless and negative. They also believe that Game Freak, the company developing Pokemon for 20+ years, wouldn't just do something as drastic as shrink a core feature without time or programming justifications.
tl;dr Movements on the internet are almost always counterproductive, caustic, and noisy, especially on Twitter. They often get a lot of backlash for that, especially from people who hold opposing views to the movement.
