My guess is they wanted to be as upfront as possible so they couldn’t be accused of what OP is saying after everyone already bought the game, or just not telling anyone until Home was released and people figured it out on their own.
Honestly I still feel like saying a big fuck all y’all when the National Dex comes up, because the games really do look great and the problem has been blown so far out of proportion it’s actually pathological.
