Give Gigantamax, no, Sword & Shield in general a chance. Let's just imagine Gigantamaxing and such is Mega Evolution, but it's a Galarian form of that. That's what makes the games and region unique instead of the slame, bland, boring Megas which imagine could've been used for 3 gens. Glad it wasn't. At least GameFreak tried something different with Gen 7 with the Z-moves. It wasn't obviously a fan favourite gimmick compared to Mega Evolutions but it was something different that they tried and it's what gives Alola that extra flavour.
Summarizing, please give Sword & Shield a chance, come on. You haven't played the games yet so you have excuse to say that they suck for your stupid reasoning. Peace.

You see that's the problem, fans loved Megas and Z-Moves regardless of how unoriginal they were and they dumped them, that's why everyone is so angry.
I just hope Gigantamaxing works and ends up being a fair replacement for Megas and Z-Moves instead of being entirely underwhelming because of the 3-turn gimmick

The problem is dynamax isn't special enough to justify being it's own thing. Out of the three we know about one could've been a evolution, another a mega, and the last one just a attack. It also appears to be taking the negatives of megas. You know how megafug didn't need a item to mega well neither do gigantmax mons or how it was kinda a dickish thing like only 5%~ of fully evolved pokemon got megas welll only one member of the species can gigantmax so if any are meta you have to spend hours soft reseting.

OP, may I ask you a question. Why should I buy sword and shield when there's other games on the market doing the same thing as pokémon but are doing it a whole lot better than GF? In the past couple years, games and game series like SMT, Persona, Digimon CS and Ni no kuni (just to name a few) have showed that they can do the whole creature capture jrpg thing as good if not better than GF.

I've given this series so many chances too redeem itself but I stopped giving a shit at sun moon. At that point Persona 5 have been out for a couple of days, Ni no kuni was released years prior, cyber sleuth has been out for a year and SMT4 was my alternative to pokémon on the 3ds

Try something new, OP. Maybe it will help you understand that TPC and GF are a bag of dicks

3 turns is ages in VGC which is the main competitive format so it will be standard to use it, especially since you dont need an item for it, you can just dyna/g-max any pokemon at any time.

Dedicated fans often make better content than TPC and its associates and Pokémon Prism was a sample of that. I just wish TPC and Nintendo to relax its trademark enforcement and give Pokémon the Touhou treatment.
Of course you also get low end quality content, but that's expectable from a fandom that big.

I wouldn't say people should "give it a chance" but I wish people would stop saying the game has no effort put into it.

It clearly does. Even beyond the clear attempt they're making to change up the meta through Maxing and whatever balance changes they're going to do, there's tons of improvements people are ignoring because of scattered graphical problems.
Every trainer model is now high quality with a face rig. Not only that, there seems to be a lot more of them this time, including stuff like special Gym Grunts actually wearing outfits to match the given gym they're based in.
The world also seems just as if not bigger than the past games, and I'm not talking about the Wild Area. The starting routes seem short as usual, but places like the major cities, the caves, and the various routes we have only seen on the map all seem to not only be large but actually interesting. They're still most likely gonna be fairly linear, but they're still well made locations with distinct personality.
And as for the Pokemon, we still don't know the full extent of how much they've changed up Amie/Refresh for the campsite. We know there's gonna be cooking with the Pokemon at least. For wild encounters all Pokemon now have an animation for their intro cry. The visual effects still use a lot of cuts to make the attacks easily fit each mon, but the visual effects of them were clearly given a lot of work and designing.

Like, the game certainly has problems, and Masuda is a cheap fuck that clearly lied about the cut being for "quality" but the games still look good and there's clear effort being made by the development team.

By culling Pokemon you only will make things worse: Melmetal was used in 96% of high tier teams on LGPE meta. Knowing how GF works, we will have another Mega Rayquaza case in our hands pretty soon with all this dynamax thing.

No. From your own image you can tell Shield-chan's face is just a sphere with a nose and a texture slapped on. Sure, it fulfills its purpose but you're being intellectually dishonest here.

It will be really awkward seeing both the Wild Area and the Sun/Moon catching system conviving together.
About the cities, we have too little footage of the game proper inside the cities.

It's the least of the issues here, but you're dead wrong about that.
Every character (at least every major character. not too much good footage of the generic trainers close up but I honestly expect them to have it too) has a full face rig with controls for the mouth, lips, eyes, eyelids and brows.
In this one you can clearly see the mouth rig at work. You can see how the shadows move around his mouth as he moves his lips. It's physically moving. I also got a gif clearly showing the eyes being animated (at least them opening and closing smoothly).
And these higher quality NPCs appear to be used throughout the entire game. Rather than having an overworld version and a battle/cutscene version, there's just one high quality version used.

As for the meta, comparing it to LGPE isn't really that fair of a comparison since LGPE had half the number of Pokemon this game will have. It'd be more proper to compare it to SM's early meta before they allowed regional dex. Not sure what that was like though since I don't do competitive.
