I saw an interesting post in another thread about a supposed cut draft for XY where Flare are aliens. Combining that with how this guy looks and there spooky battle theme, I think it was probably true.
I don't think UB resembling Lusamine and Lillie was coincidence, but them considering that plot point again. Full read here:

The alien concept seems interesting, although I'm not sure whether I prefer it or the more mystical elements of the final product. Either way XY sorely needed fleshing out.

It could have been great with more polish and content. The side features and connectivity were very nice, but the core game was as by the numbers as it gets. Gen 8 isn't looking hot so far, but I hope they have some big surprises up their sleeves.

Wait a god damn fucking minute. That guy has the same exact skin color as the Ultra Recon Squad. The XYsider mention the gym leaders of XY were meant to athletes. And a fuckton of stuff from there line up with Gens 7 and 8. No wonder the series has been half assed, Gen 6 was so ambitious they fucked up and had to spread the work done there between 3 gens and couldn't fill in the gaps left after utilizing the bits and pieces in Kalos, Alola, and Galar.

Oh sure, there were definitely a few ride pokemon, but the rumor makes it seem like they've been wanting to implement it for a while. One thing I'm surprised by, though, is a lack of mentioning the train stop. It seems like we won't ever find out if there was more to it or not.

I hope instead of diamond and pearl remakes we'll get a third version of XY.

I'm one of the few that liked XY more than S/M. The tropical and tourist theme really killed it for me. Though SM had a better roster of new pokemon and I love regional variant as a concept.

Best part about this is, Deoxys was later implied in ORAS to have a connection with AZ's weapon/mega stones

And all this even before ORAS was announced, so either this guy predicted everything the next two gens would implement or he was legit. In either case it's pretty interesting and it makes me sad seeing how kino XY could have been.

Oh, so they're called Team Flare because of solar flares. I never got what the rich nazis whose leader's ace is a Mega Gyarados had to do with fire. Aqua, Magma, Galactic and Plasma were super obvious but Flare made no sense.
But without the alien stuff they have absolutely nothing do with the Sun so even with that trivia the organization's name still doesn't fit the game.

Realistically, if we get XY remakes in 2030 or something, do you think they'd reuse some of the scrapped ideas? Like making Xerosic from Ultra Megalopolis and turning Xerneas and Yveltal into living superweapons from outer space.
ORAS retconned a lot of things from RSE's lore, so they're probably not afraid to do the same with other remakes, and after Gen 7 they've probably realized the audience doesn't find dealing with aliens that weird.

And they dont retcon, even in ORAS they say that GBA Hoenn and 3DS Hoenn are in two different universes, just to not retcon megas in Hoenn.

I love alien plots but given Pokemon's inherently awkward story pacing and character focus I doubt it would've been that great of a story.
Shifting some elements towards fairytales and folklore instead of sci-fi is the better idea, problem is the X&Y we ended up getting is so barren, we essentially got neither.

I always assumed that maybe GF felt inspired by Lilo and Stitch when it came to Alola, so adding alien Pokemon creatures felt like a nice nod.

Think back.
Gen 3 had that space program and Deoxys.
Gen 4 did have a slightly more religious slant, but the legendaries definitely felt otherworldly.
Gen 5...quiet, really. Can't think of anything that screams outer space.
And then if this stuff with Gen 6 was true, then that + Gen 7 with UBs and such.

It really feels like GF want to do something wild for once, but keep getting told no, because it won't sell as well.
