Darkrai even defeated three of Ash's Pokemon, then out came a Latios, something typically super hard to catch, which defeated the other three. The remaining four could have been anything, and that's not even considering what Pokemon he had in the box. Tobias was hardly even given a background or personality. He only exists as the ultimate cutthroat player with maxed out Legendaries, and as the manifestation of the insurmountable obstacle.
