Btw 3 turns anon, you can't over protect for 3 turns, you would lose something anyway. yet to see if whirlwind could be a problem for dynamax and gigantamax pokemon

Should've just been a change to how megas work. "Oh those previous mega forms were imperfect because we forced them to change with a magic rock. Here's how they're -supposed- to work" or something. Having both is weird and redundant.

Plus we already know we'll never see gigantamaxing again after this gen, might as well lump it in with an existing gimmick instead of adding another corpse to the pile.

It's basically giant mega evolution. Dynamax was already interesting simply because it wasn't like Mega evolution or Z moves. Sure, it alters moves, but only according to its scale, which makes sense for this feature.
