This. Nintendo needs to buy out Gamefreak and their share in The Pokemon Company, and either get one of their better in-house teams, or contract Genius Sonority to make the mainline games. GS were the first and only ones to competently translate the Pokemon formula to 3D console gameplay, if they want to make mainline games on console now they should be like pic related rather than the garbage we're currently getting.

Pretty bad to be honest. Now that they're targeting the mobile market more and more and relegating the mainline games to smaller and smaller teams with less time and resources, the Pokémon games are going to drop off in quality and features significantly. They'll make millions of dollars anyway, though, so that's a bummer.

This. Take advantage of the retro pixelshit trend and make another 2D sprite based mainline game. Nintendo console and handheld 3D already looks several generations out of date by default, and compound that with gamefreak's laziness and all 3D in Pokemon games has been ugly low poly trash. The last fully 2D games were the last games that looked good, without chunky, low quality 3D eyesores either popping up here and there or making up the whole damn game. GF are unable or unwilling to do 3D graphics right on an already hobbled hardware system, so just return to what works.

Right now I am very conflicted. I was initially going to boycott swooshi because of dexit, but today's announcement is making me reconsider. The main games need to make a substantial amount of money compared to the mobile games, otherwise this may be the very last generation we'll ever get traditional mainline games. Perhaps this is a losing battle because normies will inevitably spend a lot of money on these guys while they complain that consoles are too expensive. Pokemon deserves better...

What a damn shame. This is the worst hype season ever. Nothing to get excited about, nothing to speculate over, every monster they reveal looks uglier than the last, Dynamax and Gigantimax aren't interesting in the slightest, and the most heated and passionate argument so far has been what the fucking abbreviations for the game titles should be. I don't even care too much about the Dex culling, the modern state of Pokemon has far bigger problems than that.

Every time a new trailer comes up, all it ever is is GameFreak making absolute fools of themselves as fans spot about 100 new technical goofs or cut corners that prove that the people who make these games are incompetent beyond all belief, considering the gargantuan IP they're being trusted with. The schadenfreude has gotten old at this point, I'm just tired of it all and want to see this zombie of a series die already.

I just don't know, this is all happening so fast. I thought SM was acceptable, USUM was when things started going downhill since I thought the storyline was worse along with adding no other content I gave a shit. There's next to no mobile games being developed with the exception of that Detective Pikachu sequel. It's like Gamefreak has struggled so much when the series transitioned to 3D that they would rather make a quick buck from mobile instead of putting in the effort for quality now. I would be okay with it if generations were extended to 6 years if it meant the games could lead up to their potential, but there's no point to that from a business perspective if the fanbase will defend Gamefreak's decisions on everything. Dexit has made that pretty clear. It's depressing.

I thought things would have been different when I was younger. The future of Pokemon would be having every feature and fleshing it out to make it really stand out from the last game, constantly improving what it was that made the games so good and having staples in the games like a Battle Frontier, following Pokemon, and even the Stadium games for an additional challenge. There was endless possibilities when I was younger, and I appreciated that. And I don't want to completely knock the newer games since they are fun to replay, but I don't feel a sense of progression after I beat the E4. The only thing to do now is just VGC or Battle Spot since the Battle Tower clone is always RNG bullshit that uses even crazier power creeped sets than the last one. I had people to battle with back then, so even having online capabilities wasn't that big of a step forward in my eyes. Every week that passes by is just another reminder that the games are not what they used to be and GameFreak, like the rest of the industry has changed from trying to primarily deliver good experiences that people will talk about for years to having as many cashgrabs as possible in a game. I am fully expecting there to be bullshit paywall mechanics in the late game for Sword and Shield, none of them good.
This is more of a /v/ topic, but I truly feel like some devs and studios still exist that operate on trying to create a complete game that barely needs and post launch updates or at least gives them away for free, and I appreciate that. But the majority of the industry is just so piss poor that I wish it'd just fucking crash again so that it can be revived.

When it releases the Dexfags and Antidexfags will both become far quieter and we'll accept Dexit as a fact of the franchise. And since Gen 8 took the hit, it allows them to not worry about negative backlash in more ambitious future Gens.
