>>39495818I feel as if each new generation was an improvement over the previous one, even if some features were removed.
Gen 4 was the peak of the series IMO, HG/SS fixed many issues of Gen 2, and it also brought Kanto back for the nostalgia factor. Platinum had the best villain team, with the Galactic leaders actually being threatening on their own, not to mention Cyrus who was Ghetsis before bullshit like Hydreigon existed. Cynthia is still the most popular/greatest champion, and overall the OST of those games are extremely kino. Also, the anime was actually good around this time, and the DS was still extremely relevant.
Gen 5 is just as great in my opinion, and I was a huge fan of the "soft" reboot of B/W where you had to rely on a completely new roster of mons. B/W2 remain as my favorite games of the series for their great variety of mons, as well as the last hurrah before GF gave up completely.
The problem with gen 6 and 7 is in my opinion how casualized the games became, too many tutorials, cut scenes, free items, OP exp-share, healers everywhere so you don't need to run to the pokemon center, and overall how cash-grabby they feel.
ORAS especially was a huge disappointment in my opinion, feeling even more barebones than the original R/S. Emerald still the vastly superior way to experience Hoenn.
