This is made even more egregious in my opinion because since so much focus in put on the partner it's the ONLY game that begs the question: why the fuck are you here? What's the point of specifically taking a human, reincarnating them into a pokemon and then slapping them into the world if the one who actually does everything is a fucking Mew? The main character literally doesn't need to fucking be there. The first game implies that a human would be the only one who could have the kind of thinking skills to actually find a way to stop the meteor (or at least, the only one to have the balls to actually do it), and the second one is because Darkrai turned the MC into a pokemon so they'd have a harder time actually stopping him iirc. I never played GTI but I've heard that has a good justification for the "human=>pokemon" plot again. This one just doesn't.
I actually refused to do the post game because I wanted the little shit to stay dead. I actually felt nothing as the partner "died" per se and instead was pleased to see them gone, and that's a good indication that the game objectively failed to make the story worth anything if the main twist is bullshit and the REAL main character, your fucking partner, just comes off as an annoying bitch that goes on to upstage you then die. Fuck this game.
Thankfully I was able to get a refund.
