Riolu(Any)/Turtwig. Turtwig is the best fitting to be a shy partner who just needs a little encouragement to be a great explorer. Riolu's aura stuff fits in with the Dimensional Scream. Also, Fighting-Type for Dialga.

I'd assume this is meant as a blanket statement for anyone thinking about Pokefucking/shipping and whatever, PMD fan or not. If not, then what makes a PMD furry better than a "regular" Pokemon furry?

Waifufags are annoying and there's definitely going to be stupid whales giving TPCi free money to pull for their favored hot girl/bromon. But I'd also like to give some benefit of the doubt and assume that some of the blind "Masters good" talk stems from people thinking or seeing more effort was being put into this than the current main series games, like the characters actually having unique animations and visuals, or referencing the past games or media (like dialogue, or how characters emote, pic attached for example) without focusing all on one gen.
But of course, they're getting totally hooked and baited by it, since while one thing might look great in comparison to another, it doesn't actually make it great as a whole. And Masters, alongside other things, definitely sets a dangerous prescedent of the future of Pokemon as a whole. As a reminder, Masters is the THIRD of FOUR consecutive mobile Pokemon games. This being: Quest, Rumble, Masters, and TENCENT's mobile game (for those who don't know, those guys make extremely P2W games, even by regular gacha standards), and that Gen 7 as a whole does not have any proper console spinoffs.
So while I can see why people might be looking more fond of Masters right now than Sword and Shield or using it as pretty damning comparisons between Game Freak's games, it does set a dangerous prescedent to come.

Not a total defense, and won't justify the other three, but just what I was pondering.

Actually explore to what degree Pokemon live in a society or that they just live in the wild. Is there a clear delineation between civilized and uncivilized Pokemon? Are the civilized ones distrusting of uncivilized ones until they consent to living in a society, i.e. like the Pokemon you recruit in dungeons?

The worst thing they did is confirm in Super Mystery Dungeon that all the games take place in th same universe. When the entire world is threatened in a single charater's lifespan four times it starts to break my willing suspension of disbelief.

Explorers had the human as an established character existing in the world, albeit in the future. The economics of the world also do not work the same way between the games. Like in Explorers, the cost for a rescue request is magically 10x the cost it is in any other game (because the rest goes to the Guild). Or how new recruits require the player to pay for the land they stay on but somehow don't require that elsewhere.

Also, the Bittercold and Dark Matter are redundant as fuck in the same universe.

In a possible new PMD game would being able to start off as any pokemon (except legendaries and mythics and exclusive pkmn that need to be solo for plot) be overboard and ruin the purpose or would it be a great way to enjoy the game? I think the starter pool could be widened dramatically but it should be limited to unevolved Pokemon whose evos aren’t too strong but also aren’t shitmons. The starters could be sorted into “personality pools,” and when you take the personality quiz you get a random starter in your personality pool.

Yes, the game is different. You are weaker if you don't use wands, looplets and emeras effectively.

If you want to make the game more like the previous ones in that regard, beat Cobalion as soon as you can and use your gold bars to buy vitamins. Throw as many vitamins to both your characters at the same time using the looplet with another Pokémon. Also don't forget to change your tactics to "Follow me" if you don't like the new default one.

When you do non-story missions, the game acts like it's already postgame (if we're comparing it to the other games, which doesn't actually make a lot of sense). You are supposed to use the more powerful team members if you want to try those missions. The game still gives you easier missions that you can do with your characters if you don't want to do the harder ones immediately.

It's just how the game was designed. All the enemies you meet in story missions (where you can never bring the level 50 Pokémon) can't be recruited and are way more powerful than you (if you don't use items or vitamins). Emeras are major evidence of this. If you play the game it's meant to be played instead of constantly demanding it to work the same way as the DS games, it plays fine. That's not to say you should like the way it plays if you don't.

I took a mission to arrest Shiftry on 12F of Treeshroud Forest. When I got there the log said “You reached a destination floor! But where’s the target Pokemon?” Not only that but the entire floor was one gigantic room. I had a Spiritomb with Ominous Wind on my team, and he cleared the floor pretty quickly. As the log message implied, Shiftry was not there. I walked around a bit to see if he would spawn, but nothing. What the fuck just happened?

Not him, but I found the school setting boring as hell. I just got to Lively Town so hopefully things pick up but it took half the game to get to this point. The partner is also annoying as fuck and, yes, it takes a little while to get used to the new system that puts more emphasis on your pick ups (so RNG) rather than your actual level, moves and skill.

Nothing much aside from some Discord where it occurs. Mods run dungeons when they're free it ends up a nice experience. A little bit on the furfag side, but not enough to dissuade.

It's not perfect, but it's fun enough if you get past the kind of annoying character creation step.

For starters a nightmare tearing apart the dungeon roaming mechanic to fit a 2-4 man free roaming group. After jumping over that hurdle things get a lot simpler unless you decide not to tear it apart but then that would raise the question of if the players of each respective guild have enough patience to wait their turn until its time to make a move.

Solution: don't make it an mmo. add lots of "indirect" multiplayer features like rescue missions, other kinds of missions (for example, you steal in a dungeon, you become a criminal), player teams as npcs (like in the dojos), let player/teams conquer and customize dungeon floors, or create kecleon style shops, synchronize shops between players. full turn multiplayer could be used for co-op bosses (like in gates to infinity) and player vs player fights, but not for exploring dungeons since that would be a mess

There is one, it's not great but it's serviceable, especially when compared to the other PMD fan games out there. Google search "Pokemon Mystery Universe". Don't get your hopes up that much though.

I know about one called PMD:Shift. I've never played it but I've seen gameplay and it looks extremely clunky & bare bones. There is some other fan game that I cannot for the life of remember right now, but some Anon posted it here a while back. It's not online or anything, it's essentially a "How far can you go" type of dungeon trail. I know I downloaded it, I'm going through my computer's files to see if I can find it somewhere.

Yea, I think that's it. I should get it again some time. But yea, I'd say Origins and Pokemon Mystery Universe are the only ones worth playing. I think fan games are the only thing that's going to hold people over for their PMD fix though, I really doubt TPC in the current state are going to make any new PMD games that aren't retarded mobile shit.
